Improving the spelling and reading ability of English language learners has never been easier! With Spelling Matters, students can study spelling by themselves, in the classroom, or with a tutor.

English spelling is an important but often neglected area in language study. English spelling is irregular and often doesn’t follow its own phonetic rules. Students must memorize and learn the spelling of words. The Spelling Matters program is a simple and effective way to practice English spelling.

The program has six levels with twenty units in each level. Each level has a book and interactive online resources. In each book are worksheets, tests, and score sheets. Online resources include pronunciation help, spelling games, exercises, and quizzes. Spelling matters is a proven learning tool for English language learners.

Spelling Matters covers the top 200 sight words in the English language, and the top 1,000 English words by frequency of use. More than 1,000 additional words provide a rich basic vocabulary for the learner. In total, Spelling Matters has more than 2,100 words!

Words are grouped by common themes so that learners get the context and usage of the words as well as the spelling. Word groups are also themed by grammatical type, such as adverbs, pronounds, etc., so that other language skills are reinforced. Each level progresses in difficulty and complexity, so that learners enhance their reading and comprehension skills while they improve their spelling.
